Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, 3313 Wade Ave, Raleigh, 781-7635.The deadline to be included in NOW’s 2009 signature ad is Jan 12. January 22, 2009 marks the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that gave women control over their own reproductive decisions. This year as in previous years, North Carolina NOW is sponsoring a full page signature ad in support of reproductive rights for all women, regardless of economic status. The signature ad lists names of people supporting the statement in the ad. You can help preserve your and other’s reproductive rights by including your name in this ad, and getting the names of your pro-choice friends and family. THUR 1/8. 7pm. Triangle Socialist Forum is looking at the banking system. The meeting will be at The Peoples Channel in Chapel Hill (300AC South Elliot Rd, across from Whole Foods, a block from University Mall) According to Ellen Brown, author of Web of Debt, public control of credit would end the need for the income tax and reduce other taxes and debt, as well as eliminate recessions, without inflation. What about economic crises from overproduction? Is opposition to the Federal Reserve just for libertarian types? What can we do to push for a public banking system? An article by Brown is on the front page of the November issue of Triangle Free Press, which is still out. Delegates at LWV Convention 2008 adopted a study of the feasibility of using the National Popular Vote (NPV) Compact among the states as a method for electing the president. This meeting will be in preparation for consensus on this subject at a March meeting. Two speakers, Rep.
