BCC: BLIND CARBON COPY AND BRANNON CO CHAIR

In email correspondence from December 2011, Kevin Hill blind carbon copied future Wake County Board of Education members Susan "the singing CPA" Evans, Christine Kushner and Jim "the Great Oz" Martin.

What's interesting is who he also blind carbon copied - the other Wake County Board of Education member and ex-officio chair of the Wake County Board of Education, Yevonne Brannon.

WAKE COMMUNITY NETWORK
The assignment plan includes achievement as a small element of the equation, which could help prevent the concentration of too many low-performing students in some schools. Hill wants to make achievement a bigger part of the formula, equal to proximity.

Hill presents CUBE Award

They say a picture is worth 1000 words. In this case a picture is worth thousands of reaassigned children. In this photo, Kevin Hill presents the National School Boards Association Council of Urban Boards of Education's Award to the Wake County Board of Education.

And why did Wake County receive the award?

"The judges felt the (Wake} school board's commitment to diversity should be really recognized," said Katrina Kelley, director of the CUBE program.

N&O

And what did Kevin Hill have to say?

Mr. Hill addressed all of the Board members as he presented an award. Mr. Hill stated that,

“On Saturday, October 10th, the Wake County Board of Education was recognized by the National School Board’s Association’s Council of Urban Board’s of Education at their annual conference in Austin, Texas. It was one of the proudest moments in my long career with the Wake County Public School System, and now serving as a member of this Board to boot, to accept this recognition on behalf of the Board of Education.

The Wake County Board of Education received recognition for Outstanding Commitment and Service to Diversity. When receiving this plaque, I credited Ms. Rosa Gill for her leadership and initiative as chair of the past two previous years, along with the teachers and staff that make this happen daily for all of our children in Wake County.

The other school system that was recognized in this category was Jefferson County Public School System in Kentucky. They recently adopted a student assignment plan based on choice; it took 12 to 13 months to put their plan together. They contacted us last week because they wanted to talk because they didn’t feel it was working.

(emphasis added)

"... one of the proudest moments ..."

Maybe Mr. Hill can tell us about the conversation with Jefferson County and why "choice" wasn't "working".

KEVIN HILL'S CONCERN OVER MARGIOTTA CAMPAIGN MAILER WITH TATA - HOW ABOUT THIS ALSO KEVIN? (SEE PAGE 6 LETTER FROM HUGHES)

ORWELL AT HIS FINEST

And Ron's to blame for the NAACP and Great Schools' (not students) temper tantrums at each meeting and the increased security costs.

If you think Ron & Co. have kept you from allowing your voice to be heard, get all social justiced up at the General Assembly and the upcoming court trials and see how it goes. Do the same exact things and see how far it gets you on the freedom of expression front. DON'T CHANGE A THING.

I wonder if Keith Sutton and Kevin Hill would encourage abandonment of the character education policy in the schools just as they've encouraged abandonment of any sense of decorum at Board of Education meetings.

Orwell would be proud.

CHICKEN LITTLE KEVIN HILL

Last time I checked Kevin, the sky had not fallen, but don't let that keep you from "stirring the pot" or working with your buddies on more crisis creation and racheting up the security costs for meetings:

But in making changes several obstacles await, including:

♦The logistical complexity of revamping such a large operation, without the expertise of Burns and Assistant Superintendent Chuck Dulaney, who is retiring.

"If the superintendent is not there, we are going to have some real issues," Hill said.

SO KEITH SUTTON IS ALL ABOUT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS?

Shame he wasn't so engaged this past winter to get people out to his in Southeast Raleigh. The meeting could have almost been held in a telephone booth.

But it's not really about community engagement meetings is it? More like another chance for folks like Beverely Clark to call our board members jackasses and "Ministers" like Curtis Gatewood and Tom Rhodes to berate board members. Maybe Tom Rhodes can upgrade his beratement from "You would put God in a box if you could" to telling board members to go to Hell as well.

And let's not forget Kevin Hill's motives as he's promised to "stir up the pot" against the majority. (N&O - January 14, 2010)
